On-Demand Pay Apps, such as Even, PayActiv, Instant Financial, Earnin and FlexWage, provide employees with instant access to earned pay. These apps are among the newest benefits being offered by employers to attract and retain their workforce. On-Demand Pay Apps can be an important part of your recruiting strategy, but it’s important to set guidelines before offering it. For example, these apps typically charge employees transaction fees, similar to an ATM fee. They also create administrative challenges on the part of the employer such as managing cash-flow and the increased management time to administer this perk to employees. While making pay available immediately could be a key selling point for some employees and applicants, it can change the nature of the employer-employee relationship for others.
