Fortune 50 Division Achieves $1M
in Savings Over 12 Months

Business Challenge

One of the world’s best-known Fortune 50 companies offered a very lucrative severance package company wide. Reluctantly, this package had to be offered to the employees of one particular multi-billion dollar division of this Fortune Company, which by no means was overstaffed. As a result, 50% of their HR organization and Sales Force took advantage of the offer. The immediate challenge was to replace this loss of talent in the Sales organization with 50% fewer internal HR/Staffing professionals. Recruitment efforts also had to replace staff lost to routine turnover. Quantity, quality and diversity goals had to be achieved — RAPIDLY!

To add to this challenge, their 12 locations were in very competitive, major metropolitan job markets. Their Sales Managers also demanded only top quality sales professionals with an employment history of successful achievements in fast paced, changing environments.

Solution

In order to replace such dramatic workforce losses across these locations, we began an accelerated recruiting and staffing process that called for major recruits every 8-10 weeks. This was followed by a brief interval to allow new hires to begin their 13-week training program. The timing of each recruit was such that new candidates were hired and on-boarded as soon as training facilities became available.

Candidate sourcing, screening and assessment took place 7 days a week. Candidates also went through structured phone interviews conducted by WPG assessors. Candidates demonstrating appropriate skill sets were immediately scheduled for on-site interviews. To facilitate hiring and on-boarding, WPG provided Hiring Process Management services including its Applicant Tracking System to track the status of all candidates.

In summation, WPG provided Multimethod-Multisource Candidate Acquisition™, Candidate Screening, Candidate Assessment, Hiring Process Management, and its web-based Applicant Tracking System.

Results

As a result of our very successful partnership with our client, WPG helped our client achieve:

• 27% reduction in costs per hire – saving approximately $1,000,000 in the first 12-months

• Approximately 90% of new hires successfully completed training

• 60% decrease in employee turnover in comparison to pre-severance package highs

• Positive sales growth for the first time in three years, fueled by new sales hires

• Sales force at 100% to budgeted headcount
