Project-based hiring delivers a specific number of hires within a specified time frame. Typically, these are high-volume recruitment initiatives requiring a highly coordinated and responsive team using a highly efficient and effective hiring process.

Projects have included the recruitment of non-exempt, exempt and executive hires as well as the recruitment of contingent workforces. Here is one example of the many project-based hiring initiatives we have conducted.

Business Challenge

A Fortune 50 company needed to hire 210 sales reps in 60 days between Nov. ’05 and Jan. ’06. To complicate matters, because of a workforce strike in this region, 150 of these sales reps were to be hired as temporary employees. Collectively, these 210 individuals would be hired to work at 1 of 6 different locations.

Solution

We provided a team of recruiters and sourcers to attract and identify qualified candidates. Our team of assessors conducted structured interviews on pre-qualified candidates to evaluate their selling skills and other qualities associated with success in the client’s environment. Candidates demonstrating appropriate skill sets for
temporary positions were immediately hired and scheduled for onsite training. Candidates demonstrating appropriate skill sets for regular, full-time positions were scheduled for on-site interviews with a hiring manager.

Results

The results:

•  All hires were made within the client’s expectations and time frame
• Post-strike a significant number of temporary hires were converted to regular status
• Hiring costs were within budget

After disengaging, this same client had more needs several months later. The client was extremely pleased that WPG’s same team members were able to pick up where they previously left off. No additional training or start-up time/costs were needed.
